Surely the people of Lebanon, after all these years, are so SICK of these other neighboring countries, metaphorically, squatting on their home turf? But only they can say,"Hey thanks but we can handle this ourselves"!
Maybe they CAN'T ,OR HAVE forgotten HOW TO BE AUTONOMOUS because of all the history of others 'messing' in their business.I would love to see Lebanon run by Lebanese only and beholden to NO-ONE else. They have such a complex internal structure, politically, culturally, ethnically as it is.The ordinary people must be so tired of others BARGING into their home,WITHOUT majority approval, and LONG OVERSTAYING THEIR WELCOME!
Such a shame because the nation is so steeped in a history of pride, dignity, science, arts and multi-faith,with a glorious geographical position and climate. Lebanon has always been such a RICH and wonderful exotic pie,I guess everyone wants their SLICE whether INVITED TO DINE OR NOT!
Come on Lebanon, claim yourselves BACK on the map,FOR THE LEBANESE PEOPLE!
Anyone else who doesn't want that, must have ulterior motives and MAY NOT your REAL friends ANYWAY?
Peace,Salaam,Shalom!
So many foreign powers mess with Lebanon: Iran, Saudi Arabia, US, Israel, Syria and others. It's going to be very hard for the Lebanese government to act independently.
The warring parties in Lebanon agreed to a deal brokered by Arab diplomats, and incoming flights to Beirut's International airport have resumed ending a week of bloody, political crisis.
More than 60 people were killed since violence in Lebanon broke out on May 7, after the government discovered an electronic surveillance system used by Hezbollah to monitor Beirut's international airport and fired the head of security there. The government has also tried to declare illegal the group's private telephone network. But after a week of posturing, the US-backed government has caved in. The beleaguered government of Fouad Seniora rescinded its decisions against Hezbollah. The obvious winner is Hassan Nasrallah and his followers in Lebanon. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jamal-dajani/iran-wins-in-lebanon_b_102169.html
